Suggestions for a Quiet time with God 1. You may want to divide the time you spend in half. 2. Spend the first half in preparation for prayer (the amount of time you spend here is determined by how much time overall you will spend with God.) - reading scripture - read from daily bread or some other short devotional 3. Spend the second half in prayer - Thanksgiving - “count your blessings” - meditate on God’s abounding goodness (just a few moments) - Confession - “ask God to search your heart for sin” - confession should always lead to acceptance of God’s pardon. - meditate on God's pardoning love made known in Christ - Intercession - “sincere prayer for loved ones and enemies is never in vain.” - meditate on the needs of the world as Christ saw them from the cross. - Petition - “be anxious for nothing . . . let your requests be made know unto God.” - meditate waiting on God’s will. 4. End your prayer as you began with adoration.
